The steel for sour-gas-resistant pressure vessels: DICREST

DICREST has been specially developed for fabrication of pressure vessels for handling of sour gases. DICREST is resistant to HIC (hydrogen-induced cracking); a very special production route is used to achieve this. Particular attention is devoted during the steelmaking process to assuring exceptional cleanness and the generation of a homogenous structure. A specially controlled rolling process and subsequent normalizing and stress-relieving annealing after fabrication work guarantee HIC-resistance throughout the plate.

DICREST is available in three levels of HIC-resistance - DICREST 5, DICREST 10 and DICREST 15 - and in thicknesses from 10 to 110 millimeters. In addition, DICREST naturally also meets the specifications for standardized boilermaking and pressure-vessel steels: ASME SA516 Grade 60, 65 and 70, P275 NH, NL1 and NL2, as well as P355 N, NH, NL1 and NL2. Even greater plate thicknesses can be agreed, and other boilermaking and pressure-vessel steels can also be made "DICREST-capable".
