Weather-resistant steels: DIWETEN
Unlike other steels, under normal atmospheric conditions, DIWETEN does not simply rust merrily away. Rather it generates its own stable, corrosion-inhibiting top layer. This makes this branded steel especially suitable as a structural steel for designs for which the application and continuous renewal of a protective coating can be omitted - such as industrial structures and railroad vehicles. Interestingly, renowned sculptors, including America's Richard Serra, have also discovered the special aesthetic attractions of DIWETEN and use this steel as a material in their works.
Like all Dillinger Hütte GTS branded structural steels, the workability properties of DIWETEN, and its weldability, in particular, have been carefully optimized. DIWETEN can be ordered in two medium-range strength classes, which are identified by the steel's minimum yield strength, namely DIWETEN 235 and DIWETEN 355. DIWETEN can also be supplied on request with a minimum yield strength of 485 MPa in accordance with the ASTM standard.
