ABS and DNV approval for plates with a yield strength of 690 MPa

Quenched and tempered plates with a nominal yield strength of 690 MPa can be delivered by Dillinger Hütte in plate thicknesses up to 210 mm as ABS AQ - FQ70 or DNV A - F690.

A sufficient toughness determined by impact testing shall be proven at temperatures of 0 °C (grade AQ70 resp. A690), -20 °C (grade DQ70 resp. D690), -40 °C (grade EQ70 resp. E690) or -60 °C (grade FQ70 resp. F690). Dillinger Hütte is approved for these grades up to plate thicknesses of 210 mm with through thickness properties (Z35). These plates with a very complex profile of properties are used for the fabrication of gear racks and chords which are the main elements of legs of jack-up rigs. Further applications are cantilevers, mooring systems and other heavy duty offshore construction parts.
